A Droid Tycoon patch analysis answers one question: does this update change what you should do next on your account? Reading the notes is not enough. You have to sort each change by what it touches (income, Upgrade Chips, Nova Crystals, Rebirth requirements or events), put a number on it, and decide whether it changes your plan this week. This guide gives you that method and applies it to v1.33.0 and v1.35.0.
TL;DR
- Sort every patch line into one of five buckets: income, chips, Nova, Rebirth and events. Ignore lines that fit none of them.
- v1.33.0 added party bonuses worth up to +100% Upgrade Chips, so group play now changes chip planning.
- v1.35.0 added droid traits, reworked Rebirth Path 6 and raised CB-23 rewards. Re-check any plan built before it.
- Re-run your Rebirth requirements and chip costs after each patch, because both shift with versions.

What a patch analysis covers
Patch notes are written by the developers in the order they finished work, not in the order of importance to you. A single post can mix a month-long event, a bug fix, a menu rework and a rebalance of rewards. The analysis step turns that list into decisions.
Two questions filter almost everything:
- Does the change alter a number you currently track (credits per minute, chips per run, Nova per mission, Rebirth cost)?
- Does it alter a deadline (an event window, a rerun, a limited droid)?
A change that answers no to both is cosmetic for planning purposes. A new paint menu is pleasant, but it will not move your Rebirth date.
The five buckets for sorting changes
| Bucket | What to look for | Typical action |
|---|---|---|
| Income | Credit multipliers, sell values, belt changes | Recalculate credits per hour |
| Chips | Upgrade Chip rewards, chip costs, party bonuses | Re-run chip budgets |
| Nova | Nova Crystal rewards, shop items, perks | Reprioritize Nova spending |
| Rebirth | New levels, new paths, changed requirements | Rebuild the Rebirth plan |
| Events | Start and end times, reruns, limited droids | Put dates on a calendar |
The table also tells you what to skip. Quality-of-life lines, such as the v1.35.0 note about the Workshop Paint menu showing your collection as a list, belong in none of the five rows.
Worked example: v1.33.0 and the party bonus
The v1.33.0 patch notes were posted by the developer team in the Fortnite Communities forum. They pair a month-long Halloween event, Gonk-O-Ween, running from October 3 at 4:00 PM ET to November 1 at 4:00 PM ET, with changes to party play.
The party changes fall into the Chips bucket, and they are large:
- Each additional party member adds 20% to Upgrade Chips, up to a maximum of 100%.
- Interacting with a party member's Scrap Station gives a +50% bonus.
- Each additional member adds a +20% pickaxe bonus when the party is actively hitting the same Droid Depot.
Putting numbers on it
The cap of 100% is reached at five additional members, since 5 × 20% = 100%. Take a hypothetical solo run that earns 1,000 chips per hour:
| Party size | Additional members | Chip bonus | Chips per hour (per player) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 0 | 0% | 1,000 |
| 2 | 1 | +20% | 1,200 |
| 3 | 2 | +40% | 1,400 |
| 4 | 3 | +60% | 1,600 |
| 6 | 5 | +100% | 2,000 |
The 1,000 baseline is an illustration, not a game figure. Substitute your own measured rate. The useful conclusion holds for any baseline: a full party doubles the chip rate, so a chip target that took ten hours solo takes about five in a full group.
What that changes in a plan
If your Rebirth plan assumes solo chip income, it is now pessimistic. Rebuild it with a party-adjusted rate, and keep the solo rate as a fallback for days when you cannot group. Our Upgrade Chip cost calculator takes the cost side of that equation, so you can compare chips needed against chips per hour.
Worked example: v1.35.0 and the Path 6 rework
The v1.35.0 patch notes were announced by the FOAD team on X. Several lines hit more than one bucket.
- Traits. Trait Scanner Terminals reveal a droid's trait in exchange for Nova Crystals. This is a Nova sink that did not exist before.
- CB-23. The mission's Nova Crystal and Upgrade Chip amounts were significantly increased. That raises both the Nova and Chips buckets at once.
- Rebirth Path 6. It was reworked to match the structure of the other Rebirth Paths. This is the line to act on first.
- World missions. Rewards now include Kyber Surges.
- Mission leaderboard. It now shows the top contributors, a social change with no effect on income.
- Event. The WG-22 rerun of the Iconic Gonk event ran on October 17 and 18, from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM ET on each day. If you read this after those dates, that window has closed.
We cover the version in more depth on our page for Droid Tycoon 1.35.0: Droid Traits, Scourge Missions and Path 6.
Reading a rework correctly
A rework is the riskiest kind of line because the notes rarely list the new requirements in full. A reworked path can change the order of steps, the droids required and the credit totals. Never carry a spreadsheet across a rework. Pull the new requirements from the game and rebuild the plan.

Rebirth consumes all of your current credits and resets your balance to zero, according to iGeeksBlog's Rebirth requirements guide. The same guide says you keep your Droidex progress, Droidsmith level and cosmetics. Because the reset is expensive, a plan built on stale requirements costs you a full run, not a few minutes.
Scourge Missions after the patch
On October 19 the developers added Scourge Missions, which AllThingsHow reported with a corrupted Tatooine map and a countdown to a later phase called Dawn of the Scourge. A countdown is an Events-bucket item by definition. Note the date it points to as soon as you can read it, and plan Rebirth timing around it.
A short history: what earlier patches show about direction
Reading one patch tells you what changed. Reading several tells you what the developers keep adjusting.
| Version | Date | Main change |
|---|---|---|
| v1.06 | May 6 | A further buff to the Upgrade Chips grind |
| v1.26 | August 15 | 5 new Rebirth levels, a new 5th Rebirth path and new Nova perks |
| v1.28.0 | late August | The Iconic D-O droid, a rebuilt companion menu, a new underground area and weekly Mega Crates |
| v1.33.0 | October | Party bonuses and the Gonk-O-Ween event |
| v1.35.0 | October | Traits, Path 6 rework and higher CB-23 rewards |
The pattern is clear. Chips get adjusted repeatedly, Rebirth paths keep growing and the Nova economy gains new sinks. A player who tracks only credits will be surprised by each of these. A player who tracks chips, Nova and Rebirth requirements will see most of them coming.
If you want the version-by-version detail for earlier releases, our pages cover v1.24, v1.25, the v1.25.1 hotfix and v1.26. The full list sits on the Droid Tycoon updates hub.
A repeatable routine after every patch
Use the same steps each time. A fixed routine is faster than a fresh judgment and misses fewer lines.
- Read the whole post once without acting. Mark each line with one of the five buckets.
- Circle every line that contains a number. Percentages and reward amounts are the lines that move your plan.
- Write the date of every event. Convert it to your time zone. The notes use Eastern Time.
- Rebuild your Rebirth plan if any Rebirth line appeared. Do not patch the old plan.
- Re-run chip costs and Nova budgets. Use the new reward rates.
- Test one run. Measure actual income for 30 minutes and compare it with your prediction.
Step 6 matters most for hotfixes. A hotfix can reverse a reward change a day after release, so a number you read on day one may already be wrong. The v1.25.1 hotfix page above shows how small a hotfix can be and how much it can change.
Check your keybinds
The v1.33.0 thread documents a history of double-press bugs. Custom bindings, for example using F for interaction, can interfere with default game commands and lead to droids or event items being sold unintentionally. After any patch that touches the interface, reset custom bindings to defaults for the first session and re-add them one at a time.
Common mistakes in reading patches
- Treating a percentage as a flat gain. A +20% bonus applies to your own base rate. It is worth far less to a player with a low baseline.
- Ignoring caps. The party chip bonus stops at 100%. A seventh member adds nothing to chips.
- Planning from forum summaries alone. Summaries drop conditions. The party pickaxe bonus, for example, applies only when members hit the same Droid Depot.
- Skipping the second read. Reworks and hotfixes are announced in short lines that are easy to miss.
- Trusting last week's Rebirth list. Requirements change by version.
Our perspective
We built Droidex Companion because patch analysis is a measurement problem as much as a reading problem. A note tells you that CB-23 pays more. It does not tell you how much more on your account, or whether the extra Nova changes your Rebirth date. That needs your own numbers, taken live.
That is why the app reads your own Fortnite window locally and turns what happens in your game into live statistics, Rebirth planning and overlays, as described in the Overwolf listing. Nothing in the routine above requires it. A notebook and a stopwatch work. But a before and after comparison is only as good as the before, and few players record that baseline by hand before every patch.
Our advice is narrow. Record your income, chip and Nova rates before an update, read the notes with the five buckets, then record the same rates after. The difference is the patch, measured on your account and not on an average one.

Tracking the effect with Droidex Companion
Droidex Companion is a free Windows app for Droid Tycoon players. It shows live stats, plans Rebirths, manages your collection and supports customizable overlays, and the main features carry no mandatory payment. Our Droid Tycoon progress tracker guide explains how to plan Rebirths with it. You can download Droidex Companion from the site. Support through Ko-fi is optional.
For calculators on base income, Nova and chip costs, see the Droid Tycoon tools page. To see how your numbers compare with other players after a patch, the community statistics page is the place to start.
Turning an analysis into a Rebirth plan
A patch analysis is only useful if it ends in a plan. After sorting the changes, write three lines at most for the week: the next Rebirth target, the chip total needed and the event dates that fall inside your play window.
Templates help here. Our Rebirth planner examples give copyable layouts, and the 2026 Super Rebirth rewards workflow shows how rewards feed into the plan.
A simple weekly check keeps the plan honest:
| Item | Before patch | After patch | Change |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chips per hour | your figure | your figure | difference |
| Nova per CB-23 run | your figure | your figure | difference |
| Credits per hour | your figure | your figure | difference |
| Next Rebirth requirement | your figure | your figure | difference |
If a row changes by more than about 10%, rebuild that part of the plan. Smaller changes can wait for the next patch. The 10% threshold is our own rule of thumb, not a game value.
FAQ
How often does Droid Tycoon get patched?
The versions in this guide show a fast cadence: v1.26 landed on August 15, v1.28.0 was reported on August 29, v1.33.0 appeared in early October and v1.35.0 followed within weeks. That is several versions per month in recent releases. Check the official patch posts before each session.
Where do I find the official patch notes?
The developers post them in the Fortnite Communities forum and on the FOAD account on X. Both are linked above. Our updates hub summarizes versions in plain terms.
Do I lose progress when I Rebirth after a patch?
Rebirth resets your credits to zero, but you keep your Droidex progress, Droidsmith level and cosmetics, per the iGeeksBlog guide cited above. Requirements can change with a version, so check them in the game before you commit your credits.
Which patch lines matter most for a Rebirth plan?
Any line that adds levels, adds a path or reworks one, such as the Path 6 rework in v1.35.0. Next come changes to chip and Nova rewards, because they set how fast you reach the requirements. Cosmetic and menu lines can be skipped.
