Droid Tycoon Settings: How to Optimize Your Setup

Droid Tycoon has no single settings menu that decides how fast you progress. Your results depend on a set of choices: what you buy in the Nova Shop, when you reset, which stats you watch and how much of your own bookkeeping you hand to a tool. This guide treats each of those as a setting, ranks them by impact and shows how to configure them once so you stop second-guessing every run.

TL;DR

  • Treat Nova Shop order, rebirth timing, tracking and overlay layout as your real settings. Fix them before you tweak anything cosmetic.
  • Buy cheap early Nova levels first and compare the cost of each next level against what it returns before you commit crystals.
  • Plan every rebirth from a written target, not from feel. Resets without a target are the most common source of wasted time.
  • Use local screen recognition and a trimmed overlay to see live numbers without alt-tabbing or keeping a spreadsheet.

What "settings" mean in Droid Tycoon

Droid Tycoon is a Fortnite mode built by FOAD and Blzn Studios with Epic Games and Lucasfilm, and it launched on May 1, 2026 with the Unleash the Force event. It is a progression game. You collect droids, raise income, reset through rebirths and spend a premium currency, Nova Crystals, on permanent bonuses.

Because progress compounds, small configuration errors compound too. A Nova purchase made in the wrong order costs you a few minutes now and noticeably more after several resets. A rebirth done one step early forfeits income you have already built.

For that reason the useful way to optimize is to split the game into four layers and set each one deliberately:

LayerWhat you configureCost of getting it wrong
SpendingNova Shop purchase order, chip allocationSlower income for many runs
TimingWhen to rebirth and when to Super RebirthWasted resets, lost progress
VisibilityWhich live stats you trackDecisions made on stale numbers
InterfaceOverlay layout, language, screen positionClutter, missed information

The rest of this article goes through them in that order, because spending and timing move your numbers far more than layout does.

Set your Nova spending order first

Set your Nova spending order first — overview diagram

Nova Crystals buy permanent upgrades in the Nova Shop, which sits in the Super Rebirth area of the cantina. According to the Star Wars: Droid Tycoon wiki, the shop's core upgrades have fixed cost ladders. Max Health (+25 per level) costs 1, 6, 13, 19, 25, 31, 37 and 43 crystals across its eight levels, and Damage (+0.1x) costs 1, 13, 25, 37, 49, 61, 73 and 85.

Those ladders show why order matters. The first level of each track is almost free, and the later levels cost many times more. The sensible default:

  1. Take every level-1 purchase that costs 1 or 2 crystals before anything else.
  2. Check the next level of each track against its cost per crystal, and buy the cheapest meaningful gain.
  3. Hold crystals for an expensive track only when you know it moves your current bottleneck.

The word "bottleneck" is the key setting here. If Upgrade Chips limit you, buy what raises chip income. If Nova limits you, buy what raises Nova. Reviewing that single question before each spend prevents most bad purchases.

Cosmetics last

Cosmetic Nova Shop items have no effect on gameplay stats, so they belong at the end of the queue. Spending early crystals on them delays every upgrade that compounds.

Know how crystals arrive

The slow source is the daily quest, which pays one crystal. The fast source is the Super Rebirth, as one community guide describes it. That split shapes your schedule: daily logins add a small steady trickle, while planned Super Rebirths deliver the bulk of your spending budget.

For exact chip and Nova costs by level, the Droid Tycoon tools page lists base income, Nova and chip costs in one place, so you can price a purchase before you make it.

Plan rebirths from a target, not a feeling

The second setting is timing. Players who reset the moment they feel stalled often lose the income curve they spent an hour building. Players who wait too long lose time instead. The fix is a written target for each cycle.

A workable cycle plan has four fields:

  • The rank or requirement you must hit before the reset
  • The income per second you expect at that point
  • The Nova or chips you expect to spend right after
  • The next requirement you are heading toward

With those written down, the decision to reset becomes a comparison between your live numbers and your plan. The rebirth cycles tracker lists the requirements for each cycle so you can fill in the first field without guessing.

Super Rebirths deserve their own plan

Super Rebirths convert progress into Nova, so a premature one costs more than a regular rebirth. Our guide on planning Super Rebirths at Rank 12 explains how to avoid wasted resets and what to have in place before you trigger one. Read it before your first Super Rebirth, then reuse its checklist each time.

Read the patch notes before you re-plan

Balance changes alter costs. A plan built on last month's numbers can be wrong today. Version 1.26, for example, added new sell bonus tracks and changed Multi Crit costs, according to our patch notes. The same site covers v1.25 and v1.24, and the most recent entry, 1.34.0 with WG-22, Power Droids and Rebirth Path 6, changes the rebirth picture again. After every update, recheck your targets against the new costs before the next reset.

Optimize income before you optimize anything else

Income per second is the number that every other decision serves. Base income depends on the droids in your base, so the question becomes which droid slots earn the most for what you pay.

The wiki's droid listings show the pattern. A 30K droid earns 17 credits per second, a 74K droid earns 36 and a 110K droid earns 50, so the return per credit spent is not flat. Cost per credit of income is the figure to compare, not the headline income of an individual droid. A cheaper droid can beat an expensive one on that measure.

Two habits keep that comparison honest:

  • Sell droids you have outgrown instead of letting them occupy a slot.
  • Check the income gain of a swap before you make it, not after.

The base profit and income planner does this arithmetic for you. Enter your current base and compare a proposed change against it.

Collections are a separate track

Collection completion is progress that does not show up in income, so it needs its own schedule. Working from a checklist and then a map keeps you from walking past entries. Our collections completion guide lays out that order of work.

Track live stats so decisions use current numbers

The third setting is visibility. Most players check their numbers only when something feels wrong. By then the cheapest fix has passed.

There are two ways to track:

MethodStrengthWeakness
Manual notes or a spreadsheetNo installation, fully flexibleYou must stop playing to update it, and entries go stale
Companion app with screen recognitionUpdates while you playNeeds a Windows PC and a visible game window

A tracker is only as good as its refresh rate. Notes written between runs describe the past. A live reading describes the run you are in, and that is the one you can still change.

Droidex Companion reads the game screen locally on your PC. Because the recognition runs on your machine, your numbers do not depend on an external feed, and nothing needs to be typed in. Our write-up on the progress tracker approach explains how live tracking connects to rebirth planning.

What to watch

Track fewer stats, not more. For most players the useful set is income per second, current Nova, chip count and distance to the next rebirth requirement. Everything else is occasional reference, and showing it constantly makes the important figures harder to read.

Configure the overlay so it helps rather than distracts

The fourth setting is the interface. An overlay that shows twelve values trains you to ignore all of them. An overlay that shows four gets read.

Use these rules when you lay yours out:

  • Put the stat you check most often nearest the part of the screen your eyes already visit.
  • Keep the overlay clear of the HUD elements the game itself uses, so that neither hides the other.
  • Choose your display language deliberately. Droidex Companion supports multiple languages for tracking and planning, so you can read numbers in the language you think in.
  • Review the layout after major updates, since new features add values worth showing.

Since recognition works from what is on screen, keep the game window visible and unobstructed while you play. A tracker cannot read a value that a menu or another window covers.

Where Droidex Companion fits

Droidex Companion is a free Windows app for Droid Tycoon players. It combines live stat tracking, rebirth planning, collection management and a customizable overlay, plus calculators and update guides, all driven by local screen recognition. The main features are free to use, and a Ko-fi donation is optional if you want to support development.

It also includes a leaderboard, which gives you a benchmark for the income and progress numbers you are tuning.

If you want the setup in this article running without manual bookkeeping, download Droidex Companion and start with the overlay trimmed to four stats. The 1.2.9 release notes list what changed in the most recent app version we have documented. To see how your numbers compare with other players first, open the community statistics page.

Our perspective

We built Droidex Companion because the hard part of Droid Tycoon is not any one mechanic. It is holding many numbers in your head across resets while the game keeps changing under you. Costs shift with patches, requirements differ by cycle and the best purchase today may not be the best one next week.

Our view is that optimization here is mostly a bookkeeping problem. Players who track their own state reliably make better decisions than players with better instincts, because instincts rely on remembered numbers and remembered numbers drift. That is why we chose local screen recognition: the app sees what you see, when you see it, with no manual entry that could fall behind.

We also think a tool should stay out of the way. That is why the overlay is customizable, and why we keep the main features free. If you take one habit from this guide, make it this: write the target before the reset, then let live numbers tell you whether you have reached it.

FAQ

What is the first thing to optimize in Droid Tycoon?

Start with your Nova Shop order. The level-1 upgrades cost only 1 or 2 crystals each in the early tracks, so they return value almost immediately. Move to rebirth planning once those are bought.

Does Droid Tycoon have graphics settings that affect progress?

Video options change how the game looks and runs on your device, but they do not change income, Nova or rebirth progress. Those come from your purchases and your reset timing. If you use screen recognition, keep the game window visible so the app can read your stats.

How often should I rebuild my rebirth plan?

Rebuild it after every patch that changes costs or requirements, and after each Super Rebirth. The patch notes show what changed in recent versions, so you can see whether your targets still hold.

Is Droidex Companion free?

Yes. All main features are free, and the Ko-fi donation is optional. It runs on Windows and reads the game screen locally on your PC.
