A collection milestone is a progress threshold inside a collection system. Reach it and the game pays out a reward, such as currency, items, cosmetics or a permanent bonus. Thresholds are usually set by item count, completion percentage or a summed level. To get the most from them, learn how your game counts progress, check what each threshold pays, and collect in the order that reaches the large payouts first.
This guide covers how milestones are counted, what they pay, how to confirm a claim and what to do when a reward goes missing. It also covers how to turn milestone tables into a plan. Examples come from published game documentation, with Droid Tycoon notes where our tools apply.
TL;DR
- Milestones are counted in three ways: summed levels, item totals or completion percentage. Read your game's counting rule before you collect.
- Rewards range from small currency payouts to permanent bonuses. The final tiers often pay far more than early ones.
- Meeting a requirement and claiming the reward are separate states in many games. Always confirm the claim.
- Some rewards are lost when an event ends or a season resets. Check the carryover rule first.

What collection milestones are
A collection is a set of items, cards, creatures or objectives that the game tracks as one unit. A milestone is a checkpoint on that unit. The design goal is to make long-term progress visible and to pay the player at intervals so that a long grind has stops along the way.
Games use three counting models.
Summed levels. Supercell's Clash Royale defines Collection Level as the total of a player's card levels. A new card adds its base level, unlocking an Evolution or Hero adds 5, and upgrading a card adds 1. Every upgrade moves you toward the next reward.
Item totals. In Hypixel SkyBlock, a collection normally advances through its matching resource collected by hand or by Minions. Purchases from Merchants, the Bazaar or trading do not advance it. Boss collections advance by defeating the relevant boss, and harder boss forms add more.
Completion percentage. Chronicles of Arcadia counts exploration, quests, monster cards, elite and boss defeats, lore objects, relics, nature objects and instance objectives toward zone collections. Each zone shows an overall completion percentage.
The counting rule decides your strategy. Under a summed-level model, upgrades are progress. Under an item-total model, buying the item may not count at all. Under a percentage model, the cheapest missing entries raise the percentage fastest.

How thresholds are spaced
Spacing tells you how the designer wants you to pace yourself. Clash Royale's May 2026 update puts the first Collection Level reward at level 20. Rewards then arrive every 10 levels, and from level 1500 they arrive every 5 levels. Early rewards come quickly, and late rewards come closer together to keep long-term players engaged.
Chronicles of Arcadia uses a coarser model: collection rewards at 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% completion. Hypixel's Cactus collection sits between the two, with recipes at 100, 250, 500, 1,000, 2,500, 25,000 and 50,000 collected. That gap between 2,500 and 25,000 is a long stretch with no recipe unlocks, and a player who knows it can plan around it.
Old School RuneScape's Collection Log uses named ranks. According to a 2025 guide, ranks run from Bronze at 100 collections up to Dragon at 1,200.
Design guidance points the same way. brainCloud recommends milestone sets with gradually increasing goals, a mix of near and long-term objectives, and rewards scaled to effort. Browser strategy games apply the same logic to early growth, as shown in this look at early-game farm milestones.
What milestone rewards pay
Rewards fall into two groups: consumable payouts and permanent changes. Consumables include currency, chests and upgrade materials. Permanent changes include recipes, titles, cosmetics and discounts.
| Game | Milestone type | Reward examples |
|---|---|---|
| Clash Royale | Collection Level | Gems, Wild Cards, Lucky Chests, Evolution Boxes, banners, Tower Skins |
| Chronicles of Arcadia | Zone completion at 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% | Gashas, cosmetic fragments, exclusive titles, quality-of-life items, card-progression boosts |
| Hypixel SkyBlock | Items collected per resource | Recipes, trades, enchantment-experience discounts, Skill Experience, SkyBlock XP |
| Old School RuneScape | Collection Log ranks | Bronze through Dragon ranks, HiScores comparison |

The size of a full track
Supercell's 2026 article totals the Collection Level rewards across the whole track: 14,955 gems, 28,920 Common Wild Cards, 7,850 Rare Wild Cards and 1,327 Epic Wild Cards. The scarce end is far smaller: 58 Legendary Wild Cards, 19 Champion Wild Cards, 28 five-star Magic Lucky Chests, 13 Evolution Boxes, six exclusive banners and one exclusive Tower Skin.
The pattern is common. Volume rewards fill the early and middle track, and scarce rewards sit at a few late points. Knowing where the scarce rewards sit lets you decide whether a push is worth the cost.
Rewards that grow with completion
Some games scale a bonus rather than paying a one-time item. Chronicles of Arcadia's card-progression reduction table lists 5% at 25% completion, 10% at 50%, 15% at 85%, 25% at 90%, 30% at 95% and 40% at 100%. The jump from 85% to 100% is worth 25 percentage points, while the climb from 25% to 85% is worth 10. In a table like this, the final stretch pays the most, so finishing a collection is worth more than spreading effort across many.

Checking progress and confirming a claim
Finding the progress screen is the first task in any new collection system. Most games put it one or two taps from the main menu.
- Chronicles of Arcadia: open the collections interface from the map. Tracking begins immediately with no level requirement.
- Hypixel SkyBlock: use the SkyBlock Menu or the /collections command. A global ranking appears after you reach 5,000 Fishing items, 250 Rift items or 25,000 items in other collections.
- Topps Digital: the Sets & Awards section shows upcoming Awards and remaining time, and it is where completed Awards are claimed.
- Hard Rock Games: set counts such as 2/10 or 8/10 show progress, and grey placeholders mark missing cards. A reward is claimed at 10/10. Album totals such as 24/150 work the same way, and 150/150 triggers an Album Completed screen with the grand prize.
Requirement met versus reward claimed
The states matter. brainCloud models milestones as LOCKED, UNLOCKED, IN_PROGRESS and SATISFIED, which separates eligibility from partial progress. Twitch Drops show a similar split: completed requirements unlock a claimable reward, and unclaimed rewards can be claimed for up to 7 days after a campaign ends.
A finished milestone with an unclaimed reward is an easy thing to lose. Make a habit of opening the reward screen after every large collection session.
Carryover, resets and expiry
Before investing in a milestone, find out whether the reward or the progress survives a reset. The rules differ widely.
- Events expire. Sky: Children of the Light states that event tickets do not carry over between events, disappear when an event ends and are not converted into the next event's currency. Joining late can make a cosmetic unavailable if too few tickets remain collectible.
- Seasons can wipe progress. Axie Origin's advancement plan said Phase 2 would reset Adventure progress and rewards, MMR and leaderboards, with rewards distributed to top-ranked players.
- Some claims persist. Miniclip's Trophy Road guide says prize milestones are claimable once per account even if trophies later fall.
The practical rule: a milestone tied to a limited-time event needs a deadline plan, and a milestone tied to a permanent collection can wait for a convenient moment.
Turning milestone tables into a plan
A milestone table is a cost-benefit sheet. These steps convert it into an order of work.
- List the next three thresholds. Write the count needed and the reward for each. Ignore the far tiers for now.
- Estimate the cost per threshold. Count the missing items, the currency or the time each one takes.
- Rank by reward per unit of effort. A cheap threshold with a decent reward goes first. An expensive one with a permanent bonus goes second.
- Check for dependencies. If a milestone reward speeds up later collecting, such as a discount or a recipe, claim it before the work it speeds up.
- Recheck after each claim. Rewards change the cost of the next step.
A second principle comes from design guidance. One designer argues that optional collection rewards should stay cosmetic, expressive or modest, because making completion the only route to core power turns an optional system into a compulsory tax. If your game ties real power to a milestone, treat that milestone as mandatory and schedule it early.
Using milestones in competitive play
Milestones and leaderboards often share the same data. Sky Mavis explains that Axie Classic ranks players by Ranked Arena performance, while Homeland's weekly leaderboard uses floors completed by adventure teams. Lost Ark's Competitive Proving Grounds announced that the top 200 players per region appear on the leaderboard and that the score can decay after two weeks without competitive matches.
Two lessons follow. Ranked progress needs steady activity, and a milestone that is claimable once is safe from decay while a leaderboard position is not.
When a reward does not appear
Twitch's help guidance gives a sequence that works for most games:
- Verify that the reward is marked Claimed.
- Confirm that the correct game account is linked.
- Check in-game mail and inventory.
- Contact the developer if the reward is still missing after the stated delivery window.
Take screenshots of the progress screen and the claim state before you write to support. They shorten the exchange.
Perspective: why we built tracking around collections
Collection milestones fail players when the numbers are hidden. In Droid Tycoon, the question is always the same: what is the next collection step worth, and what does it cost? Answering it by memory or by spreadsheet gets slower as your account grows.
That is why Droidex Companion reads the game screen locally and keeps live stats, collection management and rebirth planning in one place. Local screen recognition means the numbers come from your own session, so the plan reflects your account and not an average.
We keep every main feature free, because planning should not sit behind a paywall. Use every source that fits your account, then let the tracker show which milestone is closest.

Plan Droid Tycoon collections with Droidex
Droidex Companion is a free Windows app for Droid Tycoon players. It provides live stat tracking, rebirth planning, collection management, customizable overlays, leaderboards, calculators and update guides. All main features are free, and support through Ko-fi is optional.

Start with the Droidex Companion download page, then use these guides to apply the milestone method above:
- The collections completion guide takes a checklist-first, map-based approach.
- The collection priority order shows what to collect first.
- The collection value ranking explains how to read and raise your value.
- The six-column collection tracker helps you avoid failed rebirths.
For cost math, the Droid Tycoon tools page covers base income, Nova and chip costs. The rebirth cycles tracker lists requirements for each cycle. Since patches can change costs and rewards, check the updates and patch notes after each game update.
FAQ
What is the difference between a collection milestone and an achievement?
An achievement usually marks a one-time action, such as defeating a boss. A collection milestone marks cumulative progress in a set, such as a number of items, a completion percentage or a summed level. Some games blend the two, so read the progress screen to see which counter applies.
Do purchased items count toward collection milestones?
That depends on the game. Hypixel SkyBlock does not advance a collection from Merchant, Bazaar or trade purchases, while Clash Royale counts every card level gained. Check the counting rule in the game's help page before you spend currency.
Can I claim a milestone reward after an event ends?
Sometimes, but the window is short. Twitch Drops allow claims for up to 7 days after a campaign ends, and Sky event tickets disappear when the event closes. Claim as soon as the requirement is met.
Which milestone should I chase first?
Pick the threshold with the best reward per unit of effort, and prefer rewards that speed up later collecting. For Droid Tycoon, the collection priority order lays out that ranking.
